We’re on the lookout!

Could you be one of our new trustees?

We’re on the lookout for two new trustees to join us as we progress into a new era with Open House Trust. As the building work continues, our increasing focus as trustees is on how Open House will run when it has opened its doors to the public. We’ve identified a few areas of knowledge and skill set that we would like to enhance within our trustee board, and are now actively looking to recruit two new trustees.

We are especially looking for people who have experience in HR and small business management, and who can bring their expertise to support the work of the trust. Once we are up and running, the day-to-day business of Open House will be managed by a Coffee Shop Manager (or similar) and so these new trustees will be critical in supporting this work in an advisory and governance role through their knowledge and skills in these areas.

Furthermore, our current Chair is looking to take a step back from this role and so with the addition of the two new trustees, we are hoping that a suitable new chair will be able to take over in the next 9 months. This may be one of the two new trustees we are advertising for, or it may be through a re-jigging of current responsibilities within the current team.

Process

Please download our Trustee Application Pack and if you think you would be a suitable candidate, please complete the following Online Application Form. The current trustees will have a look at your application, and you may be invited to have a conversation with one or two of them. At this point, if all parties feel positive to proceed, you would then be invited to attend a Trustees meeting to see how things work. If following this meeting both parties would like to proceed you would be invited to join the Trustee Board at the following meeting.

The Trustees meet at least four times a year, however during this period of building which requires a greater level of decision making and speed, we are meeting on a near monthly basis. We aim to meet in person, but occasionally family life, ill-health, or other work requirements mean that we often have hybrid meetings, with some joining online. Additionally, whilst we would like to have all trustees at every meeting, there are of course situations where this can’t always be the case. Through good governance and a good-sized Trustee board we are able to continue to meet in these circumstances even if the entire board is not present. In short, we are a flexible Trustee Board.

If you would like an informal conversation with our Chair about the Trustee Board please email dave@openhousesheffield.co.uk to arrange a time for a call.

Thanks for prayerfully considering this opportunity!
